Session Description:

Ed Kountz, senior analyst for payments and transactions research at JupiterResearch, will present findings on the U.S. and global contactless and mobile proximity payments markets.  He will incorporate findings from issuer and industry interviews, consumer survey data around U.S. contactless attitudes, and proprietary U.S. forecast data for contactless growth over the next few years.   Based on this research he will suggest tactics to drive visibility and adoption in 2007 and beyond.

This session is appropriate for senior financial executives with responsibility for Payments, Online Banking, Mobile Banking, Retail Banking, Marketing, Market Research and Strategy Groups.


About Edward Kountz:
Edward Kountz is a senior analyst focusing on payments and financial services. His research analyzes the changing face of the consumer payments industry, including the growth in electronic transactions, the evolution of contactless payments, and the development of debit and prepaid products as alternatives to credit. He also advises our clients in the banking, brokerage and insurance sectors on the use of emerging technologies to acquire, serve and retain customers.

Ed has been quoted in a variety of major media outlets, including The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, The New York Times, and Forbes ASAP. He has also authored numerous articles and has presented to a variety of industry and client events, including CardTech/SecurTech, several Mobile Payment Forum plenary sessions, and EFTA.

Prior to joining JupiterKagan, Ed was senior analyst in the Bank Cards practice of TowerGroup, the financial services research and consulting firm owned by MasterCard Advisors. Prior to TowerGroup, Ed served as Boston Editor with Securities Industry News, a national publication dedicated to securities industry technology. He has a Masters in Journalism from the University of California-Berkeley, and an undergraduate degree from Illinois Wesleyan University. He currently resides in Boston.
